Michaela Lubbers: Student Worker

Overview:
Michaela is a student assistant at the University of Georgia’s Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health. After attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College as both a dual-enrolled high school student and full-time student for a year, she is transferring to the University of Georgia to major in Applied Biotechnology. At Bugwood, she enters data for images in the Bugwood Images system and processes and adds new resources to the online IPM database. Formerly, she spent two summers as a UGA Young Scholar and assisted with research for Dr. Claudia Dunkley, and then Dr. Peggy Ozias-Akins and Dr. Corley Holbrook. She won 2nd place with her first scientific poster presentation, “Using Poultry Litter Treatment (PLT) to Reduce Ammonia (NH3) Emissions from Mortality Compost” and 1st place with her oral presentation “Using Marker Assisted Selection in Peanut Breeding.”
