First Detector

First Detectors are any individuals who may encounter unusual pests in the course of their daily activities. The NPDN launched a First Detector face-to-face training program during 2003, and an e-Learning training in April of 2008. Since 2003, over 9,000 First Detectors have been trained. Trained First Detectors include the following groups: Cooperative Extension Agents Crop Consultants Agriculture Inspectors Growers Master Gardeners Master Naturalists Others Involved in Plant Management

Trained First Detectors receive a certificate of completion, the NPDN national First Detector newsletter, and CEUs, CCAs, and CCHs, credits may be available (varies by state).
