Cornmeal PPP medium

Purpose
For selective isolation of Phytophthora and Pythium from plant roots.
Ingredients
Main recipe

| distilled water | 1 L |
| corn meal agar (Difco) | 17 g |
| stock solution (see below) | 100 mL |
Stock solution
| Ingredient | 500 mL |
|---|---|
| distilled water | 500 mL |
| pimaricin Na-Salt | 0.5 g |
| penicillin G Na-Salt | 0.25 g |
| polymyxin B sulfate | 0.25 g |
Instructions
- Mix ingredients
- Autoclave above and cool to 50-55°C.
Notes
- Keep antibiotics in a sterile water solution in the dark and add after sterilization (although only penicillin is heat-labile). The final concentrations of the antibiotics in the medium are: pimaricin (100 ppm), polymyxin (50 ppm), and penicillin (50 ppm).
