Arbutin Hydrolysis broth

Purpose
Used to identify strains of Pseudomonas syringae. The test detects the presence of the enzyme, ß-glucosidase, which is present in some strains of P. syringae and which splits the glucoside, arbutin.
Ingredients

| Arbutin | 2.5 g | 1.25 g |
| Peptone | 5 g | 2.5 g |
| Yeast extract | 1.5 g | 0.75 g |
| Glucose | 0.5 g | 0.25 g |
| Ferric (ammonium) citrate | 0.25 g | 0.125 g |
Instructions
- Dispense ingredients into tubes and autoclave.
- After inoculation of tubes with isolates, dark brown coloration indicates hydrolysis of arbutin. Wait up to 10 days.
