Thesis title "Invasive species in Iowa’s woodlands: Using volunteers and remote sensing as tools for research"

Responsibilities:

Chris Evans is the coordinator of the River to River Cooperative Weed Management Area (www.rtrcwma.org), a multi-agency partnership to manage invasive plants in Southern Illinois. Through this position he works on public education and outreach projects, facilitating management activities between agencies, assisting landowners in developing and implementing management plans for invasive species, and developing an early detection and rapid response system for new invaders. Since joining the River to River CWMA in May of 2007, Chris has given over 50 presentations on invasive species, with nearly 2,000 people in attendance. Before working with the River to River, Chris was an invasive species specialist with the University of Georgia’s Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health (2004-2007), where he co-created a nationwide online invasive species mapping tool (www.eddmaps.org), helped form the Georgia Invasive Species Taskforce, and authored many publications on invasive species, including the popular “Invasive Plant Responses to Silvicultural Practices in the South".
