Purpose

A good all purpose isolation and maintenance medium. Use the broth for shake culture.

Ingredients

Ingredient 1 L 500 mL
Distilled water 1 L 500 mL
beef extract 1 g 0.5 g
Yeast extract 2 g 1 g
Peptone 5 g 2.5 g
Sodium chloride (NaCl) 5 g 2.5 g

Instructions

  1. Mix and autoclave

Notes

  • A good all-purpose isolation and maintenance medium.
  • This medium should be used for Dickeya rather than Kings medium B. Dickeya will die if cultured on KB. Use the broth for shake-culture.
  • Nutrient agar is used where a solid culturing media is needed.
