Image recruitment efforts
The Bugwood Network is always searching for people willing to contribute images to the Bugwood Image Database. These images are used in the BugwoodWiki, on image websites (Forestry Images, Insect Images, IPM Images) and are freely available for non-profit, educational uses. Since we are a grant-funded organization, images relating to funded projects are given first priority. Other images relating to economically important commodities are processed next. As we have time, we do add images of non-economic, non-grant-related topics. Listed below is a listing of the projects for which we have funding. If you have images related to these efforts, please contact the appropriate person. For all other image additions, please look at the listing of the Bugwood Network Staff to find the appropriate person.
Southern Plant Diagnostic Network Pest List
Project contact: Joe LaForest
The Southern Plant Diagnostic Network is creating an image archive to illustrate all life stages of the pests, weeds, and diseases that may show up in their diagnostic labs. Their pest list contains 1300 species that are either native, introduced or exotic to states in the southern region (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Southern Texas). This list can be viewed at http://www.ipmimages.org/spdn.
Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey - Target Pests
Project contact: Joe LaForest
The Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey is a national program dedicated to surveying and tracking organisms of economic concern that have been introduced into the United States. To aid them in this effort, we are asking people to contribute images of these various pests. There CAPS pest lists can be found under the "Pest Information" tab at http://ceris.purdue.edu/napis/states/index.html
