5-8 mm. Univoltine. Adults fly from late April. The female lays eggs on young shoots of Rosa. The larvae chew inside the shoot in length of 10-20 cm. The attacked shoots get dry. The fully-grown larva is yellowish white, 15-20 mm long. Occurs in most parts of Europe, also common in Hungary.
